When should I download the app?
You’re welcome to download and set it up as soon as possible. The task will appear when the data collection starts.
What will my email be used for when signing up?
Your email is only used for accessing your Urban Belonging account and communication related to the study.
How much time will I need to set aside to participate?
We designed your task in a way to blend into your daily routine. We only ask you to remember to take pictures, or remember the situation and annotate them afterwards. Annotating a picture should take around one to three minutes. We encourage you to spend as much time annotating as possible as it greatly helps our research purpose.
Are you only focused on Winterthur?
While the project primarily focuses on gaining insights from public transportation in Winterthur, you are welcome to share observations from other locations as well, as long as they relate to your experience of navigating or using public transportation.
I don’t get a password reset email.
It may take a few minutes to arrive. Please check that you’re using the same email address you signed up with.
What does “I have a code” mean?
You’ll receive a code when you sign up via email. If you want to register, click on “Create an account”.
I can’t see the task. What should I do?
It can be that the task is not active yet. Contact me with your username, and I’ll check if you are in the project group.
I can’t join via the magic link. What should I do?
Contact me with your username and I will add you to the task manually.
I want to have a walk-through through the app.
Once logged in, go to “Profile” and select “App Tour”.
I don’t want my location to be tracked.
The app only accesses your location while it’s open. While we would like to encourage you to register the locations of your experiences, you can choose not to share or record your location at any time.
How can I protect other people’s anonymity?
To protect people’s privacy, any faces captured in your observations will be blurred.
Is there a limit on how many photos I can take?
No, there is no limit. You are welcome to take as many photos as you wish. We encourage you to take at least 10.
What is “Trace your path”?
“Trace your path” is a feature used in other research projects. Our project does not use “Trace your path”, hence you are not required to activate it.
